Farms are beautiful places to visit just to see the landscape and animals, but it is even better to come while we are working so you can get a sense of the "real" farm!
To that end, John Deck is inviting CSA members to come during peak farm activity to see how it all goes down.
The tour will be from 10am to noon on Saturday, October 18.
We'll show you how the animals live and explain how regenerative farming and pasture rotation work. You'll likely see the dairy herd being milked and moved back to the fields, pigs being fed, the beef herd being moved to fresh grass and eggs getting collected. Also, if desired, you can choose to observe our chicken processing operation.
We will look at various restoration projects on the farm, discuss plant and tree identification and you can bring your binoculars for watching our various bird neighbors.
We can also check out the operation around packing CSA orders, the sausage-making process and inspect our natural-built home structures made out of clay, sand and straw.
We will provide light snacks and you are invited to bring a picnic to eat on the lawn.
