All-Hands for Garlic Planting

We are working to get ready for next spring already (of course!!), and today we'll share the garlic planting.

Our “Farm-ily” got together this week and helped plant our garlic beds. We have locally sourced our seed garlic from Territorial Seed Co. in three different varieties:

Hardneck: Chesnok Red & Music

Softneck: Polish 

Planting garlic in the fall allows the cloves to establish roots before dormancy. We worked together to “mulch” the beds with straw after planting to insulate them through the winter.

In the spring the plants will produce delicious garlic scapes, and in late summer we will be able to harvest the bulbs!
