As the earth turns us closer to the Sun, we are delighting in the miracle of life and our home. Along with our herds finding ever more luscious pasture coming to life, we welcome you to stop by our farm any day of the week except Sunday and come for a walk, watch milking, or just say hi. We may not be available for a tour but you are welcome to park near the barns and go for a walk down our road, which continues past our house and down to our lower pastures, across Owen's Creek and to the back hillside (take a picnic!). If you cannot make it to the farm, come by one of our market booths and say hi. As a CSA member, this is also your farm!
This year, we are at the Eugene Saturday Market, Portland State University Farmers Market, and Hollywood Farmers Market. As always, place pre-orders of 10 lbs or more for market delivery or to pickup product on your account while at the booth. Market orders need to be placed by Thursday at 5pm for Saturday delivery.
This year we have started a "side-CSA" which is $300 for two 25 lb mixed boxes of meat (including beef, pork, and chicken). We sacrifice one cow, one sheep, one goat, one hog, and 32 chickens and then distribute among 16 members to make 25lb boxes. All of the side-CSA products come from our farm. We are able to offer our products more inexpensively in this program because you are purchasing a portion of an entire animal and the meat is butchered through our local state-approved butcher, which is able to perform slaughter on-farm. Call if you would like more information on this program or to sign-up.
This year we would like to be able to offer our products to more folks in the Willamette Valley so we are working with a small group of like-minded farms to jointly sell products. This will allow us the economy of scale to better compete on prices and provide more consistent product supply. We will be working with neighboring farms such as Cattail Creek Lamb and Smyth Ranch, which following similiar growing practices and principles such as no hormones or antibiotics, 100% grass-fed on dedicated pastures, and humane handling. Grower profiles and side-CSA details will be reflected on our web site in the upcoming months.
Finally, we would like to thank some special people who make the farm run. We are ever grateful to our current farm interns Alex Beck & Megan Maher who give us so much with their good humour and diligence. We would also like to welcome Rebecca Emerson who is our much needed office assistant, offering serenity in a sea of chaos. Thank you all very much for being a part of our farm and wishing you all the best,
John & Christine, Alex, Ella, Maria, Brigid, and Shanti
